Cupcakes have a long tradition in America and hundreds and 1000s seeks to bring that tradition across the pond to those poor, longing masses who have been deprived of this sweet treat for far too long.
Not a muffin and not just a cake, a cupcake is the perfect sweetie to enjoy anytime. A cupcake combines a small moist and light cake with a sweet complimentary topping. They come in different flavors and combinations to suit everyone’s taste and their cute shape and size also make them fun to eat.
The exact origin of a cupcake isn’t known for sure, but cupcakes have been a standard highlight of almost every American child’s birthday party for decades. They’re cute and easy to handle, but most of all they’re delicious.
Though most Americans grew up eating cupcakes, until recently they haven’t gone beyond the chocolate and vanilla world and therefore had a hard time going beyond children’s birthday parties. But that all changed when the Magnolia Bakery in New York City opened its doors in 1995.
Within months, even time pressed New Yorkers were waiting over an hour just to get their cupcake fix. By the time Carrie Bradshaw was seen inhaling Magnolia’s beautiful cupcakes on “Sex and the City,” savvy bakers were dusting off their cupcake pans to give adults another bite from their childhood.
Now, cupcakes have evolved to include hundreds of varieties like: Lemon Meringue, Boston Cream, Lavender, Rose Petal, Mocha, Chocolate Mint, even Mojito, Guiness and exotic flavors like Chocolate-Orange-Cardomon.
